The cost increase to go from QB Premier Plus to QB Online is $3,700 MORE per year, that's even if we updated QB Desktop every year, which we typically don't. Did he 'really' think that being online provided 800% more value to the product to justify that cost increase?! If he was tasked with managing software for his company and had to tell his boss that he was going to increase his expenses by 800% to get basically the same value back to the company*, would he be comfortable and able to do that.And here is where I knew the conversation was done. But to GOUGE us with over 800% more cost?!! That is insulting.If anyone has any info about how QuickBooks Mac compares to QuickBooks PC, I would definitely be interested.* Online capability is actually NO increase in value from our perspective, since the accountant sits at a desktop in the same office, whether using an online version of a desktop version.I think the Intuit response to Doc75, while a little off-topic, was nevertheless in response to his musings about the online version. I would even have been willing to pay 200% cost increase. I don't even mind paying more for it. QuickBooks Online SHOULD HAVE been a no-brainer solution. I'd suggest keeping it that way. Even if you're an all-Mac shop, except for that PC running Quickbooks. I suppose it's that 800% added cost you're talking about!I just wanted to inject one consideration here though. It's odd that they push it so hard you cannot have a conversation on the phone with Intuit about buying any of the desktop products without getting a sales pitch for QBO. I've been trying to get certain things fixed for about a decade, and nothing ever really changes. The Mac version is just not the truly professional product that the Windows version is. Another: you can't tag multiple sales agents on a sale. So if, say, you're paying multiple invoices with one check, and those invoices are listed in the detail lines, you can't get that to show up in a report. You can't export the detail at the line-level. That is my two-cents' worth. But the shortcomings are real, and if there's not a real ironclad reason to do it on the Mac, I just think it would be a mistake to switch. If you are interested in using any apps which use an OPI to get to the data, you need to be on the Windows version.I have been able to slide by on the Mac version only because one of my partners is so Windows-averse, and that I have been able to develop a number of workarounds or workflows to make up for the shortcomings. If you're interfacing regularly with an accountant on the outside, you need to be on the Windows version.
